HPFD welcomes new Rescue Engine home.
|
HPFD purchased a 1986 PemFab fire engine from the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Dept. in Maryland through the help of the community and businesses through-out the county. On the evening of May 24, 2008 family and friends gather at HPFD to await the arrival of station 3's newest truck. Four of the station's 25+ members made the trip to Maryland to drive the truck home. Captain Ken Ramsey, Maintenance Officer Scott Tanner, Firefighter Ron Lowe, and Firefighter Howard Harkins. The trip took just over 9 hours to complete. The crowd at the station applauded and cheered as the new Rescue 3 did a sirens and lights drive-by upon its arrival. The celebration was very quick as members of the station got to work immediately on stripping the lettering and striping. In 24 hours all the lettering and stickers had been removed from the truck and was ready for the new lettering to be applied, compartments were emptied awaiting layout of new tools, and all hose loaded ready to go. Many thanks goes out to all who helped clean and work on the truck. At this time we still owe on some of the truck's final cost and ask any one out there who still wants to help with this project to please see an officer or mail your donation to us. Thank You. |
