HPFD had its annual refresher burn on Saturday May 3, 2008. Everything went well through all the evolutions with no injuries. Every fireman was able to enter the structure in a safe and controlled setting and perform several scenarios. Upon release of the structure to burn to the ground, the structure became engulfed faster than expected and combined with low water pressure from the nearby hydrant some minor damage was sustained to a couple nearby homes. The owners of the residences that were damaged were very understanding about the mishap. HPFD is going to have all the damages repaired at no cost to the home owners.
